Biped2020

Biped is a lovely co-op game that's bursting with unique challenges and obstacles to overcome. It's fun both on your own or with a friend locally, and despite the fact there's not a tonne of meat on its bones, the game nevertheless displays a level of polish and charm that's rarely found in smaller titles such as this. Definitely one to keep an eye on if you're after a fun co-op experience, but be warned that it's more limited in scope than you might expect.

Colt Canyon2020

Colt Canyon is an excellent roguelike with razor-sharp gameplay that's incredibly addictive. The rhythmic action is comparable to titles like Hotline Miami, and there's a constant temptation to have 'just one more go'. Some may not be too keen on the heavily-pixelated graphics, but it's the gameplay that truly shines through here, and once you've conquered the steep difficulty curve you'll find this to be a fine addition to the Switch's growing selection of roguelikes.

Awesome Pea 22020

With only two dozen levels to complete, a more experienced gamer might breeze through Awesome Pea 2 with relative ease. Those after a meatier experience – or perhaps one that contains a storyline – may want to look elsewhere, but otherwise, this is a decent way to spend an evening during the quieter summer months.

Good Job! Is a wonderful surprise that everyone should try out. Thanks to its hilarious physics, seemingly menial tasks have the potential to descend into utter carnage – whether intentional or not – and its grading system means there are plenty of opportunities to replay. Slight technical hiccups aside, its arrival comes at a time when we all could do with a bit of a laugh, and Good Job! is absolutely guaranteed to do just that.

By removing the basic ability to turn direction whilst walking, Wunderling proves itself to be an incredibly addictive platformer that boasts excellent level design, brilliant writing, and adorable visuals. Its impressive accessibility means that almost anyone can pick it up, but it simultaneously remains challenging enough to keep you engaged for hours.

3000th Duel2019

3000th Duel is a highly enjoyable Metroidvania that some would argue borrows a bit too much from Dark Souls. With engaging combat bolstered by lots of unlockable weapons, a decent progression system, and some truly memorable boss fights, it can stand proud amongst the many examples of the genre currently available on Switch, even if it doesn't quite do enough to feel truly unique. Still, if you loved From Software's Souls series and fancy some more of the same, you could do a lot worse.

You’ll genuinely want to explore every nook and cranny of the various environments too, because Half Past Fate looks stunning. It’s a perfect blend of 2D sprites and 3D environments, and everything from the character models to the tiny cups of coffee burst with personality - it’s one of the most beautiful pixel art games we’ve seen in a good while.
