Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is the successor to the iconic RPG Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. Set in a Seattle faithfully reimagined in the World of Darkness, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 features reactive storytelling, fast-paced melee combat, and intriguing characters with their own hidden motives. Created in an act of vampire insurrection, your existence ignites a blood war among the vampire factions who run Seattle. To survive, you’ll choose a clan and enter into uneasy alliances with competing factions in a world which will react to every choice you make. Unleash your supernatural powers against your prey, but be mindful of your surroundings at all times or run the risk of breaking the Masquerade (the absolute law of secrecy that keeps Vampire society hidden from humanity).

Let's get this over with early: Bloodlines 2 probably should not have been called Bloodlines 2. Shared setting and a couple brief, questionable cameos (plus one utterly rubbish bit of cosmetic DLC ) aside, there is little tying this game to Troika's original janky cult hit…

Although Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 isn't particularly ambitious or polished, it makes up for its faults with enthralling gameplay, gorgeous environments, a good story, and even better characters.

The Chinese Room has managed to make something from a box of inherited parts, but this action RPG feels hollow and functional. Sadly, it hasn't worked.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is a shambles. Its best qualities are always short-lived, buried deep beneath the frustrations of non-existent RPG elements, extreme padding, and diabolical technical issues. Beyond the promise of its opening hours, this is a tragic misfire of a game.
